3. Immortelle Oil, or Helichrysum Oil, is harvested from the yellow flowers of the Helichrysum Italicum plant that grow mainly in the Mediterranean. In the language of flowers, Helichrysum spp. (Immortelle) symbolizes eternal or endless love (Seaton 180) although herbalists have used the herb as a tincture for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, specifically for wounds, cuts, abrasions, and scars, which remain some of its most common applications today. It is also a popular and highly effective essential oil when used for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties due to it's high levels of terpenes and phenolic compounds found in the oil as part of it's adaptation to growing in a challenging environment of poor dry, sandy soils, at altitudes over 2200m.
