More Information
PEA capsules may be taken with a multi-B vitamin which is beneficial for nerve health, or Turmeric to decrease inflammation. Magnesium Glycinate 200mg capsules are also beneficial to relax muscles and help with symptoms of stress, which can aggravate nerve pain and chronic pain. As chronic pain and inflammation increases the body's need for Tryptophan, it's important to make sure you get adequate amounts of Tryptophan (for example from foods rich in Tryptophan such as turkey meat, nuts, seeds, cheese, lentils and eggs or from a protein powder). Tryptophan converts to 5HTP which then converts to Serotonin, and then to Melatonin, so chronic pain and inflammation can also affect your mood and sleep patterns.
Most people who are in pain comfort eat and consume more foods that have a high amount of carbohydrate or sugar. These foods can cause inflammation in the body so they should only be eaten in moderation, and foods that have high percentage of protein should be eaten instead to maintain adequate levels of serotonin, endorphins and GABA. The production of one molecule of endorphin requires up to 20 amino acids! Endorphins are the body's natural-painkillers and GABA is a neurotransmitter that relaxes the nervous system. Muscle relaxants such as Diazepam or Valium binds to these receptors in the body.
PEA may also help with calming the symptoms of Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis as it works on the natural endocannabinoid system, and has been noted to decrease the release of histamines by mast cells in these studies.
Mast cells play a central role in inflammatory and immediate allergic reactions. They release potent inflammatory mediators in response to an injury or an allergen. These inflammatory mediators such as histamine and cytokines cause blood vessels to swell so that more blood is able to reach the site of injury or infection. By decreasing the release of histamine, this would lead to less redness and inflammation.
We can also make a cream with PEA that is hypo-allergenic, with essential oils such as Manuka Oil which can soothe inflammation, and oils that are naturally rich in fatty acids such as Omega 3, 6 and 9 such as Sea Buckthorn Oil and Hemp Seed Oil. Email us at info@botanicalchemist.net
